Rev Captain Chris Harrington
After a background in Engineering and the Music business, Rev Captain Chris Harrington has been in full time Christian ministry in the Church of England for the past 23 years. He trained with the Church Army in Sheffield from 1999 to 2002 and was licensed as a Church Army Captain and Evangelist at Sheffield Cathedral in July 2002. His first degree was in Evangelism Studies. His first post as a Church Army Officer was in Spalding, Lincolnshire, where he served for 6 years with Rev Peter Garland as the Associate Minister of two parishes - St John the Baptist and Deeping St Nicholas. During that time he was selected for training for the ordained ministry and trained on the Eastern Ministry Course at Cambridge gaining an MA in Pastoral Theology. He was ordained Deacon at St James Louth and ordained Priest at Lincoln Cathedral in 2008 and joined Rev Charles Patrick as his Assistant Curate for four years serving in two groups of rural parishes in the Lincolnshire Wolds. He became the Rector of the Heckington and Helpringham Group of Parishes (8 rural churches) during Holy Week 2012 and has served there for 14 years. He retires in July 2026. After that he will be serving as a House for Duty priest in the Lafford Local Mission Partnership when he is licensed to St Deny's Church in Sleaford on 1st July 2026 as an Assistant Curate to the vicar Rev Philip Johnson.
